ROOTED IN NATURE

BEAUTY THAT GIVES BACK

A certified zero-waste salon on Boston’s South Shore — where caring for you and caring for the planet have never been separate things.

WHY WE STARTED

When Deanna and Ashley opened Verde in 2012, sustainability in salons was an afterthought — most didn't even recycle. They built Verde on a simple, stubborn belief: that caring for people and the planet matters more than any profit, and that small choices, made collectively, add up to real change.

That conviction still guides every product we choose and every practice behind the chair. We think beauty should leave you feeling cared for — and leave the world a little better than we found it.

CERTIFIED ZERO WASTE, in Partnership with Green Circle Salons

Verde has been a proud certified member of Green Circle Salons — the beauty industry's leading recovery program — for more than a decade, since our earliest days. Through it, we divert up to 95% of our salon waste away from landfills and waterways: the hair, foils, color tubes, aerosols, and single-use items that most salons simply throw away.

Here's where it actually goes:

  • Hair clippings become booms that help clean up oil spills.

  • Foils and metals are melted down and reborn as new aluminum.

  • Leftover color is kept out of our water supply and converted into clean energy instead of being rinsed down the drain.

And it's measured, not marketed: in 2025 alone, Verde kept 1,702 pounds of beauty waste out of landfills and waterways — documented in our annual Green Circle Salons recovery certificate (1,512 lbs solid + 190 lbs liquid). Zero waste isn't a slogan here; it's a number we can show you.

NOTHING LEAVES VERDE WITHOUT A SECOND LIFE

Green Circle handles our salon-specific waste — but our commitment doesn't stop at the chair. We've built a network of partners so that almost nothing here ends up as trash:

  • Green Circle Salons — hair, foil, color, color tubes, aerosols & single-use salon waste

  • TerraCycle — snack wrappers and hard-to-recycle single-use items

  • Bootstrap Compost — coffee grounds, tea, lunch scraps, and plant trimmings

  • EOMS Recycling — our cardboard and everyday plastics, through a family-owned local Massachusetts recycler

EVERY DROP COUNTS

Our shampoo bowls are fitted with EcoHeads filtration heads, which cut water and energy use by up to 65% while filtering and softening the water itself. The result is gentler on the planet and better for your hair — cleaner water means healthier strands and less product needed at the bowl.

We also run a paperless salon: booking, confirmations, forms, and notes all live digitally, so we're not printing what we don't need to.

What we put on your hair — and your skin — matters as much as what we keep out of the landfill.

Our color is Kemon, made in Italy. We work with the Yo Color System — a gentle, ammonia-free formula made with certified organic ingredients — and Actyva Coloro in both permanent and demi-permanent. Actyva is certified Green&Clean and ICEA Vegan, with up to 95% natural-origin ingredients, delivering rich, lasting color while genuinely respecting your scalp and hair.

Our retail and treatments are Actyva, the same clean philosophy you can take home.

For our holistic facials, we use Botnia — a farm-to-face skincare line handcrafted in small batches at a biodynamic micro-farm in Sausalito, California. Botanicals are hand-harvested and go straight into each formula with no processing or delay, so what touches your skin is as fresh and potent as it gets. Every product is made in-house using plants grown on Botnia's own micro-farm, with ethical sourcing and minimal-waste production that honors both skin health and the environment. It's the rare skincare line that's as clean in its process as it is on your skin.

And then there's Oak. Oak Haircare is Verde's very own line — crafted locally in New Hampshire and thoughtfully formulated free of sulfates, parabens, dyes, and mineral oil. We donate 2% of net profits to local charities, because care should ripple outward.

THOUGHTFULLY CHOSEN, BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN

SUSTAINABILITY YOU CAN FEEL

The moment you walk in.

Our Values aren’t hidden in the back room-

They're woven into the experience:

  • Plants everywhere, plus an "Adopt a Cutting" station where you're welcome to take a free cutting home and grow your own.

  • A community library — take a book, leave a book.

  • Locally crafted candles, including our signature scent.

  • Responsibly sourced refreshments: coffee from Lady Sunshine Coffee, a local, women-led roaster sourcing through the Café Femenino program (USDA Organic + Fair Trade), alongside canned water and locally crafted seltzers.

PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

Verde is a proud member of Sustainable Braintree, our town's initiative to build a greener, more responsible community — because the change we believe in starts right here at home.
